The Faculty of History and Philology brings together the humanities specialisations of the University, which
are also the first specialisations of higher education in Alba Iulia. The Faculty of History and Philology consists of two large departments: the Department of History, Archaeology and Museology, and the Department of Philology, each with its own faculty members and academic and research programmes.
The Faculty of History and Philology owns all the necessary facilities for a top-quality educational process:
libraries (University Library, Batthyaneum Library, Library of the National Union Museum, National Archives – Alba County), access to databases (e.g. ProQuest, JSTOR, Emerald, Science Direct, Thompson ISI Web of Knowledge etc.), state-of-the-art laboratories and classrooms, archaeological and restoration sites.
The Faculty has also established partnerships with national and international institutions of higher education.
As a result, our students can take advantage of exchange programmes (study mobility and work placement mobility) at partner universities in France, Italy, Greece, Germany, Poland, Austria, Spain, Hungary, China, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Holland, Norway, Lithuania, Portugal, Turkey, Malta etc.
